This one had two distinct jobs wrapped into a single property - widen about a quarter mile of existing driveway and clear a cabin site down to bare ground. Both needed to be done cleanly before any real building or improvement work could happen. That's the thing about access and site prep: if you skip it or do it halfway, everything that comes after is harder and more expensive.

Starting with the cabin site, you can see the before shots - pink flagging tape strung between trees to mark the clearing boundaries, brush piled up, stumps and debris still in the mix. Dense birch and aspen throughout. We came in with forestry mulching equipment and ground it all down - trees, stumps, brush - leaving a flat, open pad ready for the next phase. No hauling logs off-site, no massive burn piles. The mulch stays on the ground and breaks down naturally.

The driveway work is just as important, even if it's less dramatic. A narrow two-track that barely fits one vehicle is a real problem once you're trying to get contractors, equipment, or delivery trucks in and out. We pushed the tree line back on both sides across the full quarter-mile run, opening it up to a width that actually works. The cleared corridor looks straightforward now - and that's exactly the point.

Good site prep is what makes everything downstream go smoothly. Whether it's a cabin build, a garage, a septic install, or just getting reliable access to your land - it all starts with the ground being ready. We do this kind of work regularly on wooded properties across Wisconsin, and we know how to read a site and get it done efficiently without over-clearing or leaving a mess behind.
